Jaron - Pray For you

One of the best country song I've ever heard (this coming from a person who usually doesn't enjoy country):

7 Classic Disney Movies Based On R-Rated Stories

Most of us hopefully know by this point that Disney movies were based of of some truly gruesome stories. Well, cracked.com did a piece where they talked about 7 of them, exposing the very un-Disney ways in which these stories ended..
WARNING: ONLY CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK IF YOU'RE PREPARED TO LET YOUR CHILDHOOD DIE.
i'm not even kidding, the way these stories actually turn out made even me upset a little, and i'm not what people would describe as a fan of Disney.
(the link is available after the jump, just another way to make sure people don't randomly click it)

Greyson Chance - Paparazzi

an 11-year-old boy does a cover of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi on the piano. Quite frankly, it's amazing (and not even for an 11-year-old. this is amazing, period. just wait until 0:35 when he starts singing)

Skating Pro

i know most of us generally look down on skaters as people who like to go really fast down hills on flimsy pieces of wood and break half the bones on their body due to an accident or a stupid trick, but, occasionally, there are people out there who take skating, and make it something of an art form instead of a douche-y means of transportation. (i mean no offense to all skaters, there are ones out there who are cool people, and the above is not directed at you in the slightest, unless, of course, you are coincidentally both a skater and a douche. in that case, the above is most definitely directed at you)
(btw, the artsy bit happens at about 2:00)

The Last Answer

You may remember a while back I posted a link to a short-story titled "The Last Question." Today, I have found another story by the same author, this one dealing with the concept of having eternity to think. I probably shouldn't say much more, so i'll only say, if you enjoyed The Last Question, you'll most likely enjoy this story too:

Some good movies from the 00's

thinking about seeing some movies that have come out in the past decade, but can't come up with any ideas?
Check out this list of 50 of the best movies to come out between 2000-2009.
Now, i won't promise every movie on there is pure gold, but the ones i have seen from the list (Children of Men, Brokeback Mountain, Moulin Rougue!, The Dark Knight, Pan's Labyrinth, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, to name a few) were all really good ones, so this list if worth considering next time you want to rent a movie.

and some people have a knack for being in the right place at the right time...

Swing versions of songs

using a fancy little bit of python code, Guns N' Roses' Sweet Child O Mine can sound like this:
Sweet Child O' Mine (Swing Version) by plamere
Most of the times when this process is done, the end result is fairly awful, but on rare instances, you find an artist or song which sounds awesome, like the one above. To see more examples and set up this program on your computer, go to the following link:

Crazy Drummer

There's nothing wrong with the drums he's playing, he's just going a little cuckoo while playing them =P
(and yet, somehow, still managing to play the song 100% correct)

IOGraph

So there's this nifty little program which you can download and run in your background while you go about doing the things you normally do on your computer. What this program does is track all your mouse movements, so by the end of the day, you get a picture (which you can save) that looks something like this:
the lines appear when you move your mouse around, and each dot represents the mouse being still in that particular spot, the bigger the circle, the longer the mouse was left there. so if this looks like something that would interest you, download the program here: http://iographica.com/   and have fun with these strangely artistic representations of what you're doing on your computer

Silly Airplane Announcements

Featuring such funny statements as:

From a Southwest Airlines employee: "Welcome aboard Southwest Flight XXX to Chicago. To operate your seatbelt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seatbelt and if you don't know how to operate one, you probably shouldn't be out in public unsupervised. In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, oxygen masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with two small children, decide now which one you love more."

and:

Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of us here at US Airways."

Being Human

This is an absolutely fantastic TV show about a ghost, a vampire, and a werewolf. Sounds cheesy, i know, but what astounded me about this series was that it was all handled incredibly realistically. There was drama, obviously monsters living in London trying to appear human are gonna go through some emotional things, but unlike other shows where all the drama seems fake and petty and over the top (i'm looking at you, Glee) here it's handled very well. You go from sadness to laughter to solemness many times throughout the course of a single episode, and it all seems incredibly believable.
...have i mentioned it's realistic and absolutely amazing?
yea?
ok
The first season only has 6 episodes (that was the intended length, the show wasn't cancelled, and the second season is airing in the summer of 2010 in the US so if you've never seen this show before, i highly recommend checking it out)
http://watch-series.com/serie/being_human
(btw, episode 0 is a kind of behind-the-scenes episode. So, either watch it as a teaser, or watch it afterwards to get a nice inside look, but be aware it's not the first episode)

a select comic from Head Trip

(somehow, it gets funnier if you make it actual-sized by clicking on it)

Subnormality

So remember the last couple of times i've posted a link from the comic Subnormality? Well, i'm back with yet another one, this one dealing with how people can easily find themselves doing things they find impossible or sworn to never do. (yes, this sounds a little cheesy, and this is an incredibly simplified description, but the actual comic deals with it in a much more philosophical kind of way, and it talks about how this is true for everyone, not just the cliche hero of a cliche movie)

If only the rest of the world was this cute and adorable

The Last Question

An interesting sci-fi story about the universe and man's search for a knowledge. The story is fairly long, so if staring at a computer for 10 minutes and reading text isn't your thing, i recommend printing out the story and reading it then. I won't promise you'll enjoy it or anything silly like that, but it is quite a well-done story. So read the first bit, and if you like it, then print out the rest of it.
